Our Story

Where Healing Became Purpose

Royal began with a personal journey.

More than a decade ago, founder Netiya Owens, MSN, RN, discovered yoga while looking for relief from plantar fasciitis and the physical demands of working as a nurse. What started as a way to feel better physically soon became something much more.

In 2018, after the loss of her son, Jojo, yoga became a source of healing, reflection, and strength during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.

That experience planted the seed for Royal.

Netiya wanted to create the kind of space she needed herself—a place where people could slow down, breathe, move, heal, and simply be. A place where you didn't have to be flexible, experienced, or fit a certain image to practice yoga.

A Different Kind of Yoga Studio

Royal was created to make wellness feel welcoming and accessible.

Our classes are intentionally small, with a maximum of 10 students, allowing our instructors to provide a more personal and supportive experience. Whether you're stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time or returning to your practice, you're encouraged to come exactly as you are.

There is no competition here. No pressure to perform. Just space to move, breathe, grow, and connect.

Today, Royal has grown beyond yoga classes into a community centered around wellness, connection, and experiences—from workshops and special events to retreats and restorative practices.

But the heart of Royal remains the same: creating a space where people feel seen, supported, and welcome.

This Is Your Space, Too

You don't have to wait until you're more flexible.

You don't have to know the poses.

And you don't have to have it all figured out.

You just have to start.
